Another busy week! A quick round up of some of things I've been doing this week in the Senedd and around the region.
This week I called on Welsh Government to conduct an independent review of children’s services across Wales, following the publication of report into the tragic case of 5 year old Logan Mwangi from Bridgend who was murdered in July 2021. I also asked Welsh Government what financial aid is available to those affected by the floods that hit Melincryddan, Neath and how they’ll support NPT Council, who've spent £1000s on clean-up costs, to ensure better flood prevention. https://fb.watch/h8aHsJtCqy/
I joined UCU members on the picket line at Swansea University to support their strike for fair pay, fair pensions and better job security.
I met with Welsh-Iranian protestors who came to the the Senedd to campaign against the brutality of the Iranian government. The fight for justice, human rights and women's equality is global #MashaAmini
It was also a pleasure to welcome Hanna Morgans to the Senedd this week as a part of her prize for winning the Morgan Institute Challenge public speaking competition organised by Academi Hywel Teifi, Swansea University at this year's Urdd National Eisteddfod, which was adjudicated by Llyr Gruffydd MS. Hanna, who is a student at Ysgol Bro Teifi, learnt about my role as an MS, and is hoping to study journalism in university next year - pob lwc!
Finally I launched my Design a Christmas Card Competition! I’d like to invite all primary school aged children in the counties of Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend to take part in my design a Christmas card competition!
