Making themselves heard!

Late last month I had the honour of presenting pupils of Rhos Primary School who had been elected by their classmates to be members of Llais yr Ysgol with their certificates and badges. Myself and Cllr Marcia Spooner, who represents Rhos and sits as Chair of Governors at the school congratulated the pupils on their election and wished them well in the year ahead.

Rhos Primary, like an increasing number of schools across the region, is a rights respecting school – meaning that it seeks to enshrine and embed the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in everything they do.

Article 12 states that children have the right to give their opinions on matter of concern to them, and for their views and opinions to be taken into account when decisions affecting them are made.

It was good to see this in action !
